Mosaic Learning Society is an alternative to traditional school geared specifically to the unique needs of children and youth on the autism spectrum.Through our partnership with SelfDesign Learning Community, our program encompasses structure, self regulation, and academic pursuits while supporting the development of positive social relationships with peers. Learners at Mosaic experience an increase in confidence and academic skill, and a significant decrease in anxiety and stress level. Our program offers an individualized academic program, a sensory-sensitive environment, 1:1 support opportunities, and positive relationship modeling and social development. In addition, we offer music programs, community-based activities, behavioural intervention and targeted professional consultation such as Occupational Therapy and Speech-language therapy.

The SelfDesign Distributed Learning Community offers learners aged 5-14 a dedicated learning consultant (B.C. certified teacher) who oversees your child’s learning throughout the learning year. Each child’s program is unique, and is developed in collaboration between the parents, learner, and learning consultant. Learning activities are carried out by educational assistants and by mentors and resources in the community, and supported and supplemented at home by the family. Our philosophy is that learning is a natural process that happens all day, not only during traditional school hours. Self Design hosts an online community where parents journal their child’s learning experiences, connect with other parents and learners with shared interests, and collaborate with their child’s learning consultant.
